Fletcher Tabuteau, New Zealand First List MP, Spokesperson for Commerce
New Zealand First MP Fletcher Tabuteau’s KiwiFund Bill was given the green light in Parliament today, passing its first reading.
The KiwiFund Bill will establish an independent group of specialists from the banking, savings and retirement sectors. The working group would first examine the accountability of current KiwiSaver providers relating to complaints of exorbitant fees, unethical investments and profiteering in the trading of KiwiSaver providers.
“I am excited that we’ve taken the first step to take a good look at the concerns that New Zealanders have had about KiwiSaver. New Zealand First recognises the potential that KiwiSaver has to grow investment in New Zealand businesses as well,” New Zealand First spokesperson for commerce Fletcher Tabuteau says.
“KiwiFund will also work to invest more in New Zealand based investments. New Zealand First has always stood up for good New Zealand businesses and this is yet another great avenue to support our economy.”
The Bill will be considered by the Economic Development, Science and Innovation Committee where New Zealanders will be able to have their say on the issue before its second reading.
