Waikato Regional Councillor To Stand For NZ First
Dairy farmer and regional councillor, Stu Husband is New Zealand First’s Waikato candidate for this year’s election.
“Stu is an experienced farmer and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise of the primary industry and local government sectors with him,” says New Zealand First Leader and Member of Parliament for Northland, Rt Hon Winston Peters.
“He has witnessed the good and bad side of farming, having managed an outbreak of TB on his farm in 2013. He was instrumental in creating new systems around TB for his local community which were eventually adopted and used by Federated Farmers.
“Stu is regional councillor for the Waihou constituency and chairs the integrated catchment management committee and is on the dairy and beef committee. He sits on the joint Thames/Coromandel civil defence and hearings committee.
“He is well-known and respected in the Waikato area and is not afraid to stand up for issues impacting local farmers and the community.
“Stu’s farming background, local government and business experience along with his desire to represent the rural sector makes him a good fit for New Zealand First and the best candidate for the Waikato electorate,” says Mr Peters.
Stu is owner and director of Bellevue Dairy 2015, and currently farms on a 120 hectares in Morrinsville.
