I am New Zealand First because of its common-sense policies for the support and protection of New Zealand’s economy and way of life.

Richard Prosser was born in West Auckland in 1967 and grew up in the Waikato, attending Hauraki Plains College. He moved to Central Otago in 1994 and now lives near Rangiora in North Canterbury, with his partner Mel and their daughters Olivia and Gabrielle.

Richard has travelled extensively overseas, living in Britain for several years before returning to New Zealand in 1990. He is a qualified winemaker and viticulturist and has worked in a variety of industries in New Zealand and abroad.

Richard is an initiated Reiki Master and has had a long association with natural health, complementary therapies, and organic gardening. He has also been a truck driver and a pub manager, self-employed engineering contractor, and worked in a variety of sales roles.

Richard’s ten years in the Central Otago wine industry included working as a viticulturist, winemaker, vineyard contractor, and commercial still master, and prior to entering Parliament he spent five years as a design and sales engineer in the agricultural irrigation industry.

He has been a contributor to “Investigate” magazine for ten years, and is a vocal advocate for democracy, the rights of the citizen, and the security and sovereignty of the New Zealand nation. Richard has a long-held interest in Defence and has been involved in defence material manufacturing, and is a strong supporter of New Zealand’s military and returned service veterans.

He believes in a united New Zealand with one law for all, a property-owing democracy, a value-added export-led economy, and the right of citizens to feel safe in their own homes.

Richard joined New Zealand First because of its common-sense policies for the support and protection of New Zealand’s economy and way of life, and because of the unique combination of principle and practicality which the Party brings to Parliament.
