President’s Report

This year we are witnessing a gradual but consistent rise in the polls for New Zealand First. We have been working hard to achieve this scenario and so it is great to see our strategies bearing fruit.

These polls confirm a more positive “feel” in the electorates that has been apparent for some time now. Many electorate committees have reported increased interest for our Party, as stated in a memo to electorate chairs several months ago. Our membership secretary, Esme Connell, is really working hard to keep up with the membership renewals, many dating back to 1997.

Something I have personally noticed since the election is that New Zealand First, having increased its number of MPs from five to thirteen, is now accepted as part of the landscape in Parliament.

Believe it or not prior to that some of the dinosaurs from the past really believed they could wipe us off the map. There was an element of this thinking in the media also - NO MORE.

Our Convention in Christchurch on the 11th and 12th of October is a chance to show unity and strength. As well as being the Annual General Meeting of New Zealand First the convention is a window into our Party provided to the public via television and the newspapers. Given this fact we need to look on this as an opportunity to showcase ourselves and what we stand for.

When looked at in this light we are sure you will agree that it is a desirable place to be for those interested in our Party. So come along. The more we have present the better our convention will be.

Every week now we are seeing the results of flawed policy not only from the present Government but previous administrations as well and these are having exactly the adverse effects on our society that our Leader predicted.

Encourage your friends to join New Zealand First and give us the strength of numbers we need to displace these parties that have inflicted these ills upon us.
